Today we met in the lecture hall for a presentation. The presentation ranged from Diversity to sex and alcohol. The one thing that stood out to me overall was the talk about diversity. I thought the speaker really made it clear that to be successful you must understand other cultures. It's hard to argue with that especially in the state of Texas where roughly 50% of the population is hispanic. So out of everything that we heard i would definently say the thing i would like to remember is this quote from our speaker, "The world is getting smaller and the understanding of the people in it must get larger."

I agree. Dr. Munoz is an excellent speaker, and I think he made his points clear. Diversity is within all of us. And, we can see better collectively than individually. Take action when you're meeting other people. Take an interest. Learn more about them. His talk also emphasized active learning. Go get your education. Set yourself up for an internship. Nice post. Let me ask you this (and please follow up here): how can you go about meeting someone who is different than you right away? Think about doing so this week. And before long, visit the Intercultural center. Did you know that you can check out free DVDs there?
